BCM COLLEGE ACHIEVED II, III, VIII, IX & X POSITIONS IN PANJAB UNIVERSITY B.Ed. RESULTS

B.Ed. Students (2020-22) have made the college proud by achieving II, III, VIII, IX & X positions in Panjab University B.Ed. results. Ms. Muskan Grover stood II by scoring 93.94% followed by Ms. Akshita Gautam at III position with 93.37% marks, Ms. Milan Sharma at VIII position with 92.81% marks, Mr. Hari Krishan at IX position with 92.75% marks and Ms. Anjali at X position with 92.56% marks. It won’t be out of place to cite that 107 students have scored more than 80% marks & 09 students have secured 75%-79% marks. BCM Management congratulated the Principal, faculty and students for their brilliant performance in P.U. Chandigarh results.

BCM College celebrated Hindi Diwas with utmost joy and enthusiasm. The celebration began with recital of Gayatri Mantra. Dr. Sangeeta, Head of Hindi Dept. showcased an informative presentation highlighting the historical perspective and the literary jewels of Hindi language. All the teacher educators recited many thought provoking poems like Araadhan Apni Bhaasha Ka', 'Kadam milakar chalna hoga' & 'Seekho'. Principal, Dr. Monika Dua congratulated Dr. Sangeeta for the successful completion of the celebration.

BCMites very zealously celebrated ‘Teachers’ Day’ to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the Great Philosopher Teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan during ' Youth Training Camp'. The Celebration began with the recital of Gayatri Mantra and paying floral obeisance to Dr. Radhakrishnan. Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Dr. Monika Dua very lucidly articulated that a teacher should be a knowledge seeker, a lifelong learner & a facilitator. She shared her reflections about the 21st Century teacher and motivated would be teachers to take a vow to be skilled, updated and technology savvy in order to make the teaching learning process enjoyable & effective. Mesmerizing Dance Performance and melodious songs by students enthralled one and all. Ms. Anjali paid tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan and presented her views highlighting the contribution of teachers in shaping lives of students.

Talent Development Cell of the College organised a three day long programme titled 'Skills N Thrills' from Aug. 25-27, 2022 to identity and chisel the hidden talents of BCMites. Students showcased their artistic skills by participating in different Fine Art items viz. Poster Making, Collage Making, Rangoli Making etc. on Aug. 25. College campus could see varied hues of Heritage & Culture on Aug. 26 as students very ardently participated in events like Rassa Vatna, Pakkhi Making, Crochet Making etc. An activity-'Poem in the Pocket' was organised in respective tutorial groups to identify good Orators who participated in Poem Recitation & Debate on Aug. 27. To prepare young teachers for World of Work, an Interactive Session on the topic-'Journey from Student Life to Professional Life' was organized on Aug. 27 where Dr. Anuradha Kumar, a Social Development Specialist very lucidly deliberated on the ways and means young Student Teachers ought to adopt at the onset of their professional career so as to keep stress at bay.Interacting with the audience, she gave some useful tips like identifying ones' strengths & weaknesses, working on ones' Passion, Being Optimistic, Being in touch with true friends, Developing and nurturing a hobby. etc. to the students.Dr. Monika Dua congratulated Talent Development Cell Incharges for organising 'Skills N Thrills' which equipped the would be teachers with requisite skills in a fun filled manner.

BCMCollege of Education organised a cultural program titled 'Azadi ka AmritMahotsav' to commemorate 75 glorious years of Indian independence. The day wasgraced by the benign presence of Sh. Suresh Munjal, Trustee, BCMF and Dr. PremKumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Suresh Munjal, paid homage torevolutionaries who laid down their lives during India's freedom struggle. Healso shared a couplet penned by the great Bhagat Singh and evolutionary journeyof National Anthem. Addressing the students, Dr. Prem Kumar highlighted therelevance of Freedom in the present times and inspired the students tounderstand their responsibilities. He motivated one & all to take a pledgeto celebrate each day as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. Principal, Dr. Monika Duawelcomed the esteemed dignitaries of the day & aquainted the audience withthe activities organised by the college on the theme ' Azadi Ka AmritMahotsava'.Celebration began with an articulous Saraswati Vandana by Ms. Prabhafollowed by an Informative Power Point Presentation by Ms. Bhavika highlighting'History of Indian flag'. Agile students presented a plethora of itemsviz. patriotic song titled 'Aisa DeshHai Mera' by Mr. Tarun & group, Speech by Ms. Nanadini, Solo dance by Ms.Harpreet Kaur, Group Dance by Ms.Guneet Kaur & group. Ms. Ankita presenteda lucid Power Point Presentation giving a glimpse of activities organisedduring the week long 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' program by the NSS wing of thecollege. The celebration concluded with foot tapping bhangra performance by Mr.Rahul & performance.

The college campus was filled with a spirit of patriotism as studentsbegan the day by distributing Tiranga to their friends and teachers. Thezealous BCMites sang patriotic songs like 'Ae watan , watan mere aabaad rahetu' , 'Teri Mitti mein mil jaawaan' executing the Har Ghar Tiranga theme intrue letter and spirit. Selfie Point depicting the Har Ghar Tiranga theme wascreated by the college where students clicked selfies with the National Flag.Principal, Dr. Monika Dua along with faculty and students very enthusiasticallyparticipated in the event making it more worthwhile.

NSS wing of BCM College of Education organizedAnti-Drug and Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on August 12, 2022 in the Village KhasiKalan. Dr. Jasdeep Kaur. Asst. Prof. of the College delivered an ExtensionLecture titled 'Say No To Drugs' to IX & X grade students of GovernmentHigh School, Khasi Kalan. Deliberating on the topic, she highlighted the causesand effects of Drug Abuse & Ways and Means to stay away from the deadlydiseases caused by Drug Overdose. Some eye opening videos related to the topicwere showcased to educate and guide the students. Rally on 'Har Ghar Tiranga'Campaign was flagged off from Govt. High School, Khasi Kalan. High spirited BCMitesparticipated in the rally and raised slogans like 'Hath Se Hath Milayenge,HarGhar Tiranga lehraenge', 'Sare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara', 'Sab to PyaraSada Jhanda, Sada Tinn Ranga Vala Tiranga' etc. Students very zealously took apledge and vowed to Say No Drugs and Yes to Life. BCM College ofEducation organised Farewell functiontitled 'Jashan- E-Rukhsat 2022' for the students of the outgoing batch (2020-2022) in the collegecampus. This fun filled day was graced by Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, CollegeManaging Committtee. Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the studentsfor the successful completion of the course and wished them good luck in theirfuture endeavours. He highlighted the relevance of enhancing knowledge and skills in the present fastpaced era of endless opportunities. Principal Dr. Monika Dua encouraged thestudents to chisel and polish their skills and subject knowledge to adapt tothe challenges of the future world of work. The day was jampacked with manypowerful performances like bhangra, mimcry, songs, dances by enthusiasticBCMites. The students decked up in awesome costumes showcased their talent onstage. Students were conferred different titles by a panel of judges. Ms.Japneet Kaur was declared 'Miss Farewell' while Mr. Ram Dua was declared 'Mr. Farewell'.Ms. Radhika Batra was adorned with the tilte - 'Miss Beautiful Smile' while Mr.Arun was declared 'Handsome Hunk'. Mr. Karan won the title of 'Mr. BestCostume' and Ms. Nikita won the title of 'Miss Best Costume'.

NSS Wing of the College in collaboration with Department of Physical Education organized a Yoga Session on June 21, 2022 to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day. Mr. Devinder Singh, Asst. Prof., Doraha College of Education, Doraha graced the occasion. He referred to Yoga as the key to Healthy living in this 21st Century technology driven world. BCMites under the guidance of Ms. Parwinder Pal Kaur, Asst. Prof (Pedagogy of Physical Education), very enthusiastically performed different Yoga Asanas viz. Surya Namaskar, Chakrasana, Pranayam, Padamasana, Vajrasana, Bujanghasana, Halasana etc. and explicitly articulated the benefits of each Asana. Principal Dr. Monika Dua congratulated Ms. Parwinderpal Kaur (Dept. of Physical Education) and Ms. Manjit Kaur (NSS Officer of the college) for making the event successful.

College of Education celebrated World Environment Day with great fervor and zeal with an aim to sensitize young future teachers about the importance of clean environment . Students enthusiastically prepared posters on the theme " Towards Cleaner Environment and Stronger " . Plantation drive was also carried out to create awareness among the students to preserve the environment . Students planted several evergreen plants like Rose , Dahlia , Ferns etc. in the college campus . Principal Dr. Monika Dua appreciated the efforts of in - charges and students . She motivated the students for keeping the environment clean to lead a healthy life .

BCM College of Education organized a function to commemorate 105th Birth Anniversary of Revered Mahatma Satyanand ji Munjal. The function began with the soulful recitation of Gayatri mantra followed by Ganesha Vandana. Principal Dr. Monika Dua extended formal welcome to Sh. Suresh Munjal, Trustee, BCMF & Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee. Speaking on the occasion, she fondly remembered Mahatmaji and how she always idolised the noble soul and tried to implement his teachings in letter and spirit. Sharing his words of wisdom, Sh. Suresh Munjal motivated one and all to follow the path shown by revered Bauji to make a difference in the lives of fellow brethren. He lucidly articulated that living a life imbued with values is the righteous way to celebrate Mahatma Ji' s Birth Anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar paid homage to Mahatmaji by highlighting three magnificent traits of Bauji’s personality viz. Discipline, Hard Work, Down to Earth. Dr. Suprerna Khanna, Asst. Prof. paid a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Ji on Kamalia Ka Sant, Kamaal kar gya. Dr. Sangeeta Arora, Asst. Prof. recited an emotional poem titled 'Mahaan Se Mahatma' reminiscing Mahatma Ji's positivity and nobility. Dr. Jasdeep Kaur, Asst. Prof. acquainted one and all with the Life and Times of Mahatma Satyanand Ji Munjal through a PowerPoint Presentation. Students very warmly participated in the celebration by singing songs, reciting poems thereby making it a grand success. Guleria Principal, BCM School, Sector 32, Ludhiana & Mrs. Rosy Jain, Principal, Shifali International School, Ludhiana were the panelists of ‘Mock Interview Session’. This session was conducted with a solemn aim to hone Employability Skills, Coping with Stress during Job Interviews, Communication Skills etc. among pupil teachers. The esteemed panelists interviewed 12 students from different streams and shared their valuable tips on facing Job Interview. An extensive Power Point Presentation highlighting the glimpses of ‘Skill Enhancement Week’ was showcased by Ms. Japneet and Ms. Yashvi. Speaking on the occasion, Resource Person of the day, Mrs. Neeru Kaura, Principal, BCM School, Focal Point, Ludhiana very comprehensively talked about Ethics viz. Discipline, Honesty, Punctuality, Empathy etc. a 21st teacher ought to possess to inspire 21st century techno savy students. She cited real life stories like Mr. Ranjit Singh Disale to sensitize pupil teachers to nurture themselves into apostle of excellence and virtues. The day concluded with Ms. Ritu Gill, an IELTS Trainer & an alumni of the college gave useful ‘Tips to crack IELTS’ which enhanced the Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing Skills of students.

Principal of the college, Dr. Monika Dua formally welcomed the Resource Person of the day, Dr. Vandna Shahi, Principal, BCM School, Basant Avenue, Ludhiana. She very coherently enunciated the Twelve key skills of 21st Century-a teacher ought to hone in today’s fast paced world driven by Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality & Mixed Reality. She conducted an interactive, activity-oriented session emphasizing the relevance of Team Work, ‘Me-Time’ & Self-Awareness in preparing future teachers for future job market etc. Thought provoking Videos were showcased and many activities were organized during this efficacious session, which would surely play a pivotal role in enhancing the Soft Skills of BCMites.

WORKSHOP ON ‘STORY TELLING’ AT BCM COLLEGE
Day 3 of Skill Enhancement Cell of BCM College was marked with fun, energy & agility as Resource Person of the day, Mrs. Shivani Sachdeva, Head, BCM World Preschool, Ludhiana organised an activity oriented Workshop on Story Telling titled ‘Once upon a Time’. The Day began with the formal welcome of the Resource Person by Principal Dr. Monika Dua. Mrs. Shivani very lucidly articulated on the aforementioned topic stressing the key elements of the story telling viz. Stimulus Variation, Expression, Voice modulation, Body Language, Imagination, Gestures etc. She conducted an interactive, activity oriented session emphasizing the relevance of Story Telling in enhancing their Listening Skills, Oration, Writing Skills, Creativity, Vocabulary etc. She narrated a story using Hand Puppets, Fingure Puppets making the session fun filled & effecive thereby equipping the student teachers with Soft Skills required to excel in this 21st century knowledge intensive world.

He very lucidly reflected on the topic ‘Life Skills’ & conducted an interactive, activity oriented & power packed session emphasizing the relevance of Life Skills viz. Time Management, Coping with stress, Growth Mindset, Emotional Intelligence for teachers. On the whole, the session stirred up the thought process of students and would surely elevate their success rate in this technologically driven fast paced world.

SKILL ENHANCEMENT WEEK INAUGURATED AT BCM COLLEGE
Skill Enhancement Week was inaugurated at BCM College with a solemn aim to enhance the Communication Skills, Life Skills, Employability Skills of the students. This week long Skill Enhancement Week is scheduled to be organized from May 5-11, 2022 during which highly enriching sessions like Workshop on CV Writing, Speaking Skills, Job Maintenance Skills, Personality Grooming, Mock Interview will be organised by eminent educationists and resource persons. Dr. NIdhi Singhi, Career Counsellor, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. She aquainted the student teachers with different Govt. Jobs, Govt. Schemes, preparation and tips to clear various competitive exams. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee highlighted on building a skilled workforce to cater to global market. Principal, Dr. Monika Dua talked about 4.0 Education and relevance of fostering skills among future nation builder for sustainable livelihoods. The day concluded with a Session on ‘Communication Games’ by Ms. Amita Khosla, Asst. Prof. at B.CM. College.

PLANTATION DRIVE AT BCM COLLEGE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
NSS Wing and Eco Club of BCM College collaborated to celebrate World Earth Day on the theme ' Invest in our planet' by planting saplings in the college campus. The main aim of the plantation drive was to sensitize the students about the environmental concerns and to orient young minds to develop compassion for mother Earth. To make this occasion worthwhile, all the NSS volunteers and other interested zestful students participated whole heartedly by planting about 100 saplings of popular plants like Lemon grass, Aloe vera, Ashwagandha, Chchoti Chandani etc. in the college campus. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Monika Dua motivated student teachers to pledge to nurture and water the saplings being planted. She also discussed the need of afforestation to reduce the harmful effect of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in the environment. She congratulated the Teacher Incharges Ms. Manjeet Kaur, Dr. Jasdeep Kaur and Ms. Kanwalpreet Kaur for organising such an extensive event.

The Talent Development Cell of BCM College of Education organized Inter House Competitions for various activities viz. Declamation, Elocution, Dialogue Speaking, Nukkad Naatak, Ad Mad Show, Handwriting, Reading aloud etc. to holistically develop the personality of student teachers. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee very lucidly said that each individual is blessed with unique talent which needs to be identified and harnessed. He cited many real life examples of Teachers like Jack Ma Yun, Raveendran Byju who made big in life by augmenting their special flair and abilities. Principal Dr. Monika Dua highlighted the relevance of organizing such competitions in identifying hidden talents of students and chiseling their strengths, abilities & capacities; there by preparing them to face the challenges of the world of work. Dr. Monika congratulated the Talent Development Cell Incharges Dr. Suprerna Khanna & Ms. Manjit Kaur. On this august occasion, Dr. Suprerna Khanna acquainted one and all that the students representing the four houses-Mercury, Jupiter, Mars and Venus were identified through a ten day long Talent Development Camp which was conducted in the college campus w.e.f. 21st March to April 1, 2022. The students selected during the camp, competed for Intra Hose Competitions held on April 5 & 6, 2022. Mr. Taran Singh, Ms. Bableen Kaur & Ms. Radhika Batra recited many heart-warming poems titled ‘Lo aa gaye Chunaav’, ‘Maavaan Te Dhiyaan and many more. Ms. Roohi, Ms. Muskan Grover, Ms. Yashvi mesmerized the audience with their excellent oratory skills while other talented BCMites ardently showcased Ad Mad Shows, Nukkad Naatak on Themes like ‘Classroom Management’.

WORLD HEALTH DAY CELEBRATED AT BCM COLLEGE
World Health Day was celebrated at BCM College of Education to raise awareness among the pupil teachers about the ongoing health issues that concern people across the world. During the morning assembly, the students very enthusiastically participated in various items highlighting the importance of health and hygiene in their daily life. Ms.Vridhi presented an informative article on 'Health' followed by a thought provoking poem titled 'Swasthya hi Jivan ka Aadhar Hai' by Ms. Gitanjali. Ms. Muskan shared some educational facts about Physical and Mental Health with the pupil teachers. This celebration aimed to focus the attention of students on urgent environmental concerns needed to keep humans and the planet earth healthy.

NSS Wing of BCM College of Education organised 11th NSS camp on the theme Swastha Bharat Abhiyan and Jal Shakti Abhiyan from March 24-30, 2022. Dr. Manisha Jain and Ms. Shaista Bano graced the occasion as guests of the day. Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary College Managing Committee was among the dignitaries present to charm the function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar motivated and inspired the students by saying that Teachers have the prime responsibility in building the character of students so they ought to have a healthy attitude & rich values. He gave mantras of happy life by serving the community selflessly thereby becoming an asset for nation. NSS volunteers presented a beautiful cultural programme viz. Songs, Nukkar Naatak, Bhangra, Dance and Poems. Glimpses of NSS Camp were also shown to the gathering by Mr. Baldeep Singh and Ms. Vanika Dhanda. During the seven-day long camp, students actively organised Cleanliness Drive at College campus, Nishkam Seva Vidya Mandir and Gurudwara Sahib at village Khasi Kalan, Visited Slum Area at Sanjay Gandhi Colony and enjoyed a movie titled –‘Purna’. Talent Development Activities were organised during which NSS Volunteers participated in varied items viz. Poem Recitation, Declamation, Elocution, Storytelling, Nukkad Naatak, Reading etc. They organised a Rally on the theme, 'JAL Shakti Abhiyan' to sensitize the public of Sector 32 & Village Khasi Kalan about the need to conserve water. Zeal, exuberance and enthusiasm were at the apex at BCM College campus during Day 6 of the 11th NSS Camp (March 24-30, 2022) when the NSS Wing of the college organized a Rally on the theme ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Manisha Jain & Ms. Shaista Bano. The buoyant NSS volunteers raised short and crisp slogans like “Jal Hai To Kal Hai”; “Save Water-Save Life”; “Jo Jal Nu Bachayega, Samajdaar Kehlayega” etc to sensitise the public about the need to conserve water. 11th NSS Camp of BCM College on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ was inaugurated at the campus with utmost zest, commitment and fondness. Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee graced the august occasion with his esteemed presence. Addressing the students, he motivated the young pupil teachers to develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility. Principal Dr. Monika Dua welcomed honourable Dr. Prem Kumar and congratulated the NSS Wing Incharge, Ms. Manjit Kaur for the onset of the week long NSS Camp w.e.f. March 24-30, 2022 after a perplexing span of two years of pandemic. She emphasized that teachers being nation builders, had a prime responsibility in character building of Gen X. The agile NSS volunteers commenced the inaugural function by reminiscing the Creator. Ms. Kuljot Kaur paid tribute to Lord Ganesha by performing a beautiful Classical dance followed by NSS Pledge by Ms. Yashvi. NSS volunteers presented a beautiful cultural programme by singing melodious songs, reciting heart touching poems and showcasing lucid Power Point Presentations on the aforementioned theme. NSS Song by Ms. Akanksha and group filled everyone with a spirit of selfless sacrifice. NSS Wing Incharge, Ms. Manjit Kaur coherently deliberated on the Action Plan of NSS Camp viz. Visit to slum Area, Cleanliness drive in college campus and at Village Khasi Kalan, Rally on theme of ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ and Movie session etc.

Fun, frolic, zest and enthusiasm marked the celebration of International Women’s Day at BCM College as Women Cell of the College organised a colourful extravaganza of varied events viz. Singing, dancing, PowerPoint Presentation, Mehndi Designing, Cooking without Fire & Poster Making Competitions. On this august occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, College Managing Committee appreciated the students for their zealous participation in this post pandemic celebration. The day began with recital of Bhajan by Mr. Karan followed by lucid deliberation by Ms. Akanksha & melodious songs like ‘Dehleez Pe Mere Dil Ki’ & ‘Maa’ by Ms. Shruti, Ms. Kuljot & Ms. Akanksha. Ms. Amrita and Ms. Rajnit enthralled one and all as they tapped their feet on the popular dance number ‘Dil Hai Chota Sa’ while Mr. Baldeep Singh showcased a PowerPoint Presentation on ‘Women Empowerment’. The function concluded with a harmonious bhajan by Ms. Shruti, Mr. Sumit, Mr. Karan & Mr. Arun which made the audience nostalgic. Science Exhibition at Govt. High School, Khasi Kalan, Caption Writing & Poster Making Competitions were organized to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the great Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman. BCMites very zealously showcased their self-prepared Models on various scientific concepts viz. Rain water Harvesting, Global Warming, Artificial Satellites etc. This exhibition was typically designed to hone HOTS like Critical Thinking, Communication Skills, Teamwork, and Creativity of Pupil Teachers. Electoral Literacy Club of the college celebrated 12th National Voters Day to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (25 January 1950). It was a solemn attempt to encourage the young pupil teachers to vote and maximize the enrolment of voters in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. Dr. Suprerna Khanna, acquainted the students with the Theme for National voter's day 2022 –‘Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy’ and stressed on ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’. Ms. Rajinder Kaur, an M. Ed. Students recited a thought provoking poem-‘ Ballot is more powerful than bullet’ on this occasion. Ms. Amita Khosla showcased a video highlighting the history and significance of National Voters day followed by a satirical poem titled ‘Democracy’ by Dr. Suprerna Khanna. On the auspicious occasion of commencement of New Academic Session (2021-23) of BCM College, the sacred Hawan was performed in the college campus. The Ceremony began with the chanting of the pious Gayatri Mantra followed by the Hawan. Honorable members of BCM Management- Shri Suresh Munjal Trustee, BCMF; Dr. Prem Kumar, Executive Director, BCMF and Principals of sister institutions graced the occasion with their benign presence. Holy bhajans were recited which filled the whole environment with positivity. In his address, Shri Suresh Munjal congratulated the new entrants and motivated them to work hard and diligently to become competent teachers. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar elucidated that 21st century teachers need to be resilient and equipped with both life and ICT skills to become holistic knowledge disseminators as well as facilitators. He encouraged the Alumni to be torch bearers and contribute righteously towards society. The event was stimulating & enjoyable as alumni participated with full zeal and fervor, reciting poems, singing songs, sharing their experiences and contribution of college in actualizing their teaching potential to the fullest. Ms. Manpreet Kaur recited a motivational poem- 'Main Rahaan Te Nhi Turda' while student Mr. Satnam Singh recited a self-composed poem- 'Zindagi Lajwaab'. NSS wing of BCM Collegeconducted an online workshop on 'How to make PaperBags' to make the student teachers awareabout the use of biodegradable paper bags. Resource person of the day, Ms. Yamuna Arora, Asst. Prof. BCM Collegeof Education very diligently demonstrated a simple procedure of making Paperbags using eco-friendly materials like newspapers, waste paper sheets, ribbon,jute strings etc. The solemn objective of the virtual Workshop was to sensitisethe future teachers about the environmental threats viz. climate change,environmental pollution and scarcity of resources and also to motivate them toadopt sustainable lifestyle choices including recyclable paper bags. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prem Kumar stressed on the importance of Peace in the present world scenario& added that India ought to be torch bearer of Peace for the world. Prof. Rashmi Grover too emphasised the relevance of Peace in the current times & appreciated the initiative taken by the Peace Club of the college. College of Education, Ludhiana in collaboration with Dept. of Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh via Google Meet Software Application. Principal Dr. Monika Dua welcomed Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director, Youth Welfare, P.U., Chandigarh & Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary, B.C.M. College Managing Committee. 23 students from various colleges affiliated to P.U. Chandigarh participated live in this competition. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nirmal Jaura appreciated the efforts of the college for providing an online platform to the young talent by selecting an appropriate theme ‘Tarang Jeewan Ki’ during this COVID time. He encouraged the participants to move ahead in life with positive spirit. Dr. Prem Kumar also motivated the participants and congratulated the faculty and participants for putting up a wonderful virtual show. NSS Volunteers of the college under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Ms, Manjit Kaur distributed Handmade Safety Face Masks to Sweepers, Rickshaw Pullers, Domestic Help, Community Workers around their houses truly standing up to the motto of NSS-‘Not Me but You’. NSS Programme Officer appreciated the efforts of the NSS Volunteers and motivated them to continue such Nobel endeavours that reflect the essence of democratic living.

Eco Club of B.C.M. College of Education celebrated World Environment Day, keeping in mind the theme of World Environment Day 2020- 'Celebrate Biodiversity' a concern that is both urgent and existential. To sensitize the students about the current environmental crisis, the college organized Poster & e-Collage making activities. Despite the lockdown situation, B.Ed., B.Ed. Special Education & M.Ed. Students very enthusiastically planted saplings, prepared posters and e-collages on the assigned theme. The e-collages made by Mr. Raman, Vice President of Eco Club, Ms.Mohneet, University topper & Posters made by Ms. Harnam Kaur were highly applauded. Principal Dr. Monika Dua & Eco Club Incharges, Dr. Jasdeep Kaur & Ms. Kanwal appreciated the efforts of the students.

College of Education, Ludhiana in collaboration with District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE), Ludhiana conducted an Online Counselling Session via Webex App to acquaint all the students with the new job opportunities offered by DBEE, Ludhiana. The Online Counselling Session began with the recital of the Gayatri Mantra and Principal Dr. Monika Dua’s formal welcome of the Resource Persons, Ms. Ramandeep, PCS, Employment Generation& Training Officer, DBEE, Ludhiana & Dr. Nidhi, Career Counselor, DBEE , Ludhiana. Ms. Ramandeep, EGTO, DBEE gave very useful Tips & shared the online resources for preparation of SSC, CGL & PCS entrance exams. Dr.Nidhi very elaborately deliberated on importance of Communication, Employability, Pedagogical Skills, Content & Technological Knowledge for a teacher. She also updated the students with Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar & Karobar Mission (PGRKAM) & important helpline numbers. Both the resource persons very patiently answered the queries of the students making the session Interactive & highly effective. Dr. Jasdeep Kaur, Placement Officer of the college thanked the resources persons for sharing valuable information regarding job avenues with the pupil teachers.

College to pay asoulful tribute to revered Mahatmaji onhis Birth Anniversary. Principal Dr. Monika Dua very fondly remembered thefatherly presence of Bauji in the institution and paid homage to the greatphilanthropist. She elucidated that Mahatmaji would always be a source ofinspiration in all the endeavours. During this online deliberation, Dr. JasdeepKaur, Asst. Professor showcased a Power Point Presentation on theTheme-‘Mahatma Satyanand ji Munjal- A Father Figure’. College of Education celebrated International Labour Day using its official online portal to commemorate the contributions of workers and also to pay tribute to all the workers who are toiling hard round the clock to make our lives easy in the present crucial scenario of COVID-19 outbreak. Students very zealously participated in online Declamation Competition on the topic ‘Dignity of Labour’ and recited thought provoking poems titled ‘Main Mazdoor Kuchch Is Tarah Jeena Chahta Hoon’, ‘Tribute To The Labour’, ‘Dignity Of Labour’ etc. at the Poem Recitation Competition. The panel of judges for the online competitions comprised of Ms. Suprerna, Ms Amita & Ms. Shilpa. Ms. Damanpreet Kaur was declared first followed by Ms. Deepmala at the second position & Ms. Ritu at the third position in Declamation Competition while Ms. Ritu, Mr. Satnam Singh & Mr. Shreyans Jain bagged the first, second & third position in Poem Recitation Competition. Extensionlecture on the topic ‘Traffic Awareness’ was organised by B.C. M. College ofEducation, Ludhiana to sensitise the students regarding vital issues related toTraffic viz. Traffic Rules & regulations, erroneous practices followedwhile driving, precautions to be taken by the driver. Ms. Himanshi Arora,Safety Riding Coordinator was the Resource Person of the day. She acquaintedthe students with Basic Road Safety Traffic Rules through an informative powerpoint presentation and some real life videos. Furthermore, she stressed onusing safety gauzes like helmets, Seat belts, following road signs and signals.She raised the slogan ‘Helmet On, Life On’. Mr. Jasvir Singh also inspired allthe students to follow traffic rules diligently as 1.5 lakh deaths in Indiaevery year are caused due to road accidents. He emphasised that loss of humanresources affects economy of a nation at an alarming rate. Speaking on the occasion,Principal Dr. Monika Dua motivated the students to follow traffic rules byhighlighting the importance of driving licence, helmets and seat belts.

Ms. Swati Tiwana , Joint Commissioner –cum ERO 060 – Ludhiana East addressed pupil teachers and motivated them tobecome responsible citizens of the nation by contributing in the formation ofthe government. She enlightened all present to make right use of their voting rightbecause every vote counts. In addition, Ms. Swati distributed voter cards tothe voters who will cast their vote for the first time. Sh. O.P. Kapoor,Superintendent, Sh. Abdul Sataar, Superintendent, Sh. Ashwani Kumar, Supervisorwere amongst the dignitaries present on the occasion. Sr.Parminder Singh Gill, Chief Administrator, GLADA, Ludhiana graced the occasionas Chief Guest at the Valedictory function. Sh. Suresh Munjal Ji, Trustee, LBCMFoundation, Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary BCM College Managing Committee,Principals of sister institutes were among the dignitaries present to charm thefunction. The lecture was organized to mark the celebration of125th Anniversary of Swami ji’s historic Address. Sh. ChanderShekhar Talwar, Retired IAS officer and presently Chairman of Red CrossSociety, Punjab was the Resource person of the day and very beautifully deliberatedon the Swami Ji’s speech with his mesmerizing words. He told the audience thatGame changer, eternal Guru, Prophet of God, Champion Speaker, Messenger of Godare the adjectives whose recipient was Swami Vivekananda Ji after he deliveredhis speech in America. Messages of Swami Ji were delivered with enormoussublimity by Sh. Chander Shekhar Talwar Ji. A pledge to mark‘National Unity Day’ was sworn in by students and faculty members with a soleaim to foster, reinforce, preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and securityof our nation. In order to pay homage to the great patriot and to acquaint theyoung pupil teachers with his ideology and teachings, a Debate Competition onthe topic ‘Is Ideology of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel relevant in the presentera?’ was organized. Declamation on the topic ‘AdhunikJeevan mein Hindi ka mahatav’ was also organized where students very ardentlyexpressed their views. Swachhta Pakhwara Programme on the theme ‘Save Water’ & ‘Say No to Plastics’

In Sync with the guidelinesby MHRD, NSS Wing of the college organizeda fortnight long Swachhta Pakhwara Programme on the theme ‘Save Water’ &‘Say No to Plastics Initiative’ from Sep. 1-15, 2019. The programme was markedby an extravaganza of events and competitions viz. Poster Making Competition,File & Folder Making Competition and Creative Writing Competition on theaforementioned theme. To sensitize students to say no to non biodegradablematerials like Plastics, workshops on ‘Bags from Rags’ & ‘Best out ofWaste’ were organized where students very zealously made bags, files &folders from waste cloth etc. An exhibition of these bags, files and folderswas also put up to motivate one and all. Ms. Kanwalpreet Kaur, Asst. Prof.deliberated on ‘Water Conservation’ and acquainted the students with thepresent scenario of water levels in India & round the globe. Students alsorecited poems, delivered speeches, showcased Power point Presentations & stagedNukkad Naataks on ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’.

Examination by scoring 86.56% marks followed by Ms. ShellyBansal with 84.78% at V position, Ms. Priya with 84.67% at VI position, Ms.Gurnoor Kaur with 84.56% at VII position & Ms. Rashmi Sukhija with 84.22 %at IX position in Panjab University.It is worthwhile to mention that 30 studentshave scored more than 80% marks, 126 students have scored more than 70% marksout of 147 students. Other disciplines includedwere shot-put, Longjump, discusthrow, three leg race, sackrace, lemon race,Chatti race etc.Dr. Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director, Directorate of Sports,Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Neeru Malik. Fellow, P.U. Chandigarh graced theoccasion as Chief Guest and gave away prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion,he encouraged the students keeping in mind ethos like sportsmanship, honesty,dedication, truthfulness etc. to achieve the heights of glory in sports. RanjitSingh, President, Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha, S. Inderjeet Singh Sodhi,Organizing Secretary, Sh. Pardeep Kumar, Secretary, Sh. Rector Kathuria, Blog Editor wereamong the other members of Jatha present on the occasion. Dr. Mohinder Kaur Grewal, Former Principal,G.C.G., Ludhiana enhanced the glory of the day by delivering Key note address.She deliberated on the topic, ‘How to develop scientific temper?’ byhighlighting significance of Science in our day to day life. She motivatedstudents to develop critical thinking, scientific aptitude and innovativeoutlook to become successful in their life. Students participated indeclamation competition and performed Nukkad Naatak on theme ‘How to developScientific Attitude?’ Ms. Ritu bagged first position, Ms. Jasveen bagged secondand Mr. Tejinder Singh stood third in Declamation Contest. S. Ranjit Singhdelivered Presidential address to inspire students to develop scientificthinking by sweeping away all other desires in the interest of desire toknow. S. At the Zonal level, the students made the collegeproud by winning 11 first positions, 7 second positions & 7 thirdpositions. 9 th NSS Camp concluded at BCM College of Education

9 th NSS camp on the theme ‘CLEAN INDIA, HEALTHY INDIA’ in the
village Khasi Kalan from Jan 4, 2019 to Jan 10, 2019 was concluded today at
BCM College of Education. Dr. Harmeet Singh Saralch, NSS Coordinator, PAU
graced the occasion as Chief Guest at the Valedictory function. Sh. Vijay
Munjal Ji, Sh. Suresh Munjal Ji, Dr. Prem kumar, Executive Director, LBCM
Foundation, Sh.S.K. Mehta Ji, Secretary BCM Management, Principals of sister
institutes were among the dignitaries present to charm the function. Principal,
Dr. Monika Dua, welcomed the guest and applauded the efforts of NSS officers
of the college and all the NSS volunteers whole zealously participated in
various activities organised during the camp. NSS volunteers presented a
beautiful cultural programme viz. songs, skit, group dance, poems to entertain
one and all. The programme officer Ms. Manjeet Kaur read the report of 9 th NSS
Camp. Glimpses of NSS Camp were also shown to the gathering by Ms. Shilpa
Kaura. During the seven-day long camp, students actively organised Cleanliness
Drive at Govt. High School, Gurudwara Sahib, Aanganwadi, Dispensary in
village khasikalan, led a Rally on the theme ‘CLEAN INDIA, HEALTHY
INDIA’, went to Buddha Naala for cleanliness awareness drive, women health
& hygiene Awareness Camp was everyday activity during the camp. Speaking
on the occasion, Sh. Vijay Munjal Ji and Sh. Suresh Munjal Ji
motivated and inspired the students by saying that Teachers have the prime
responsibility in building the character of students so they ought to have a
healthy attitude & rich values. Dr. Harmeet Singh Ji gave mantras for happy life
by doing selfless service for community and become an asset for nation. Dr.
Prem Kumar Ji proposed a vote of thanks and inspired the would be teachers to
ignite the spirit of selfless service, passion, dedication for the noble profession
for the positive transformation of the society.

Peace Club of the college organized Communal Harmony Week with a view to foster and
reinforce the spirit of Communal Harmony among the students. The students and faculty
members enthusiastically organized various activities viz. Essay Writing Competition,
Declamation Competition, Poster making competition, Board decoration and skits on the theme
Communal Harmony. National Flag Day was observed on 22 nd November 2018 to raise funds for
the deprived section of the society. Dr. Monika Dua, Principal of the college, motivated the
students to reaffirm old age traditions and faith in the values of tolerance, co- existence and
brotherhood in a multi – cultural and multi – religious society.

The day began by paying a tribute thegreat National Leader-Mahatma Gandhiji. The NSS programme Officers of thecollege, Ms. Manjit Kaur & Ms. Shilpa Taneja guided and motivated thestudents to take part in the campaign. The students recited poems, deliveredspeeches and staged skits in sync with the vision of Gandhiji- ‘Sanitation ismore important than Independence’. The zealous students well equipped withtheir brooms, dusters and heads held high then, ardently cleaned the wholecampus. Dr. Monika Dua, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the facultyand the students and the stressed the relevance of Cleanliness.

The College bagged 10 First (Giddha-group & individual, Collage making, Paranda making, Khiddo making, Elocution, Embroidery-Bagh, Clay Modelling, Muhaveredar Vartalap, Group dance-Individual)11 Second (group song, Creative writing, group dance, Installation, Still Life, Chikku making, Naala Making, Histronics, Embroidery-Phulkari, Mehandi Designing, Rangoli) and 12 Third prizes (Geet, Poster making, Shabad- Individual, Guddiyan Patole Making, Peehri Making, Eennu making, Mimicry, Bhand-item & individual, Embroidery- Dasuti, Poem, Bhangra) and cumulatively won total 33 prizes. B.C.M. Managing Committee congratulated and appreciated the faculty and students for their accomplishments.

BCM College of Education organized extension lecture on Universal Brotherhood and Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Visit. Mr. Vishal Sharma from Vivekananda Kendra was the Resource Person for the same. Mr. Pankaj Gaba Ji deliberated on contributions of Swami ji in the field of education. It was the commendable effort of Mr. Sudhir Jain Ji, President, Bhartiya Vikas Parishad. Mr. Vishal Sharma deliberated on Swami Vivekananda Ji’s biography, philosophy, contributions in various fields etc. Later on they interacted with the students to incorporate the philosophy of Swami ji’s life in every one’s life. Dr. Monika Dua, Principal of the college expressed her gratitude towards all the members of Kendra for sparing their precious time to incorporate precious values of Swami ji in the lives of pupil teachers of BCM College so that they can become real future builders.

BCM College of Education organized extension lecture on Digital Payment System. Mr. Amandeep Sethi from Axis Bank was the Resource Person who made efforts to promote Govt. initiative towards Digitalization. S. Jaswinder Singh Ji, Branch Head, Chandigarh Road, Axis Bank and their team members also accompanied. Mr. Amandeep Sethi illuminated young minds to move towards digitalization by using Govt. Apps like mcludhiana.gov.in, citizen card, Debit & Credit cards etc. He acquainted our pupil teachers with knowledge of filling property tax, water and sewage tax, solving matters related to birth and death certificate, using Municipal Corporation’s bus service efficiently with the help of e-payment card to make payment of fares etc. Through his embellishing presentation and elaborative discussion he accosted on Digital Payment System. Dr. Monika Dua, Principal of the college expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana & Axis Bank for spreading digital awareness among our students.

NSS volunteers underthe flagship of NSS Unit of BCM College of Education successfully completed 100hours ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme’ at village Khasi Kalan. Significantactivities like Solid waste management, NukkadNaataks, Swachhta Mela, Awareness Campaigns, door to door meetings, moviescreening in public places, waste collection drives, cleaning of streets anddrains were carried out by the agile volunteers following the guidelines of theMinistry of Human Resource Development. Walls of the Govt. HighSchool, Khasi Kalan were beautifully painted with slogans on cleanliness.Keeping in mind the shortage of water, NSS volunteers also set up a VerticalGarden in school campus for which the Village Panchayat was grateful to the NSSWing of the college Ms. Manjeet Kaur,Programme Officer reinforced all the volunteers from time to time to leave nostone unturned while carrying out all the activities.

Mr. Sagar stood first with 80.75%, Ms. Harsimar Kaurgot second position with 80.5% followed by Ms. Kamna at IV position with78.25%, Ms. Anshika Dua & Ms. Gurpreet Kaur at V position with 77.75 %, Ms.Sonali at VI position with 74.25 % and Ms. Anita Shah at X position by securing70.25% in Panjab University B.Ed.-Special Education Examinations. While Ms.Sukhpreet Kaur, B.Ed. General (Sem.-III) student made the college proud byscoring 84.7% and standing fourth in P.U. InternationalYoga Day was celebrated with full zeal and fervor at B.C.M. College ofEducation, Ludhiana at the college campus keeping in mind the sole aim tospread the awareness about yoga and its benefits in one’s lifestyle. Therecourse person and alumnus of the college, Ms. Supreet Kaur, P.R.T. fromB.C.M. Sr. Sec. School, Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana enthusiasticallypracticed different asanas like Surya Namaskar, Uttanasana, Tadasana,Trikonasan, Kapaal Bharti and Vajra asana etc. The Principal and Staffemphasized the significance of yoga and meditation and motivated the studentsto adopt the same in their daily life to stay fit and healthy. Collegeorganized a visit for all the students to nine community centers of the city viz.Baba Pritam Singh Vridh Ashram, Mother Teresa Old Age Home, Braille Bhawan,Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Deaf & Dumb School, Vardaan School for Blind& Autistic Children, Darpan Autistic Center etc. with an objective tosensitize the pupil teachers about the hardships and challenges faced bydifferent sections of society, prepare them to become active members of theircommunity and also to provide them training in life skills like empathy, socialskills etc. 273 students under the able guidance of their teachers visited differentcenters, whole heartedly, extended their selfless services and spent qualitytime with those exquisite echelons of the society who have been ignored,neglected and deserted by their loved ones by helping them in their dailychores, sharing their joys and sorrows. Otherdisciplines included were shot-put, Long jump, discus throw, three leg race,sack race, lemon race, Chatti race etc. Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director, Dept. YouthWelfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh graced the ocassion as Chief Guest andgave away prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he encouraged thestudents keeping in mind ethos like sportsmanship, honesty, dedication,truthfulness etc. to achieve the heights of glory in sports. Mr. Harpal Singh wasdeclared as the best athlete among boys and Ms. Sarabjeet Kaur as the bestathlete among girls. Venus House was declared the Best House. Sh. S.K Mehtaji (Secretary)and Sh. During the week different sessions were conducted byeminent educationists and resource persons to inculcate the professional ethicsand code of conduct among would be pupil teachers. The esteemed resourcepersons who enlightened the pupil teachers with their expert views include Ms.Kusum Lata, Dr. Ashoo Toor, Dr. Charanjit Singh ,Prof. Rashmi Grover, Mr. VikasKharbanda, Dr. H.S. Aulakh. On the concluding day, Mock Interview Session wasconducted to prepare would be teachers for challenges of world of work.Panelists for the interview were Dr. Vandana Shahi (Principal, B.C.M Sr. Sec.School, Dugri, Ldh.), Sh. Well structured andpinpointed questions focused around issues viz. democracy, voting system,constitutional rights and duties etc were posed to six competing teams. ShriTirath Bansal, A.R.O., Shri Ashwani Gulyani, Supervisor & 6 B.L.O.s fromECI were present on the occasion. The B.L.Os made voter ID cards of pupilteachers on this eve. This fortnight long programme kickstarted with ‘Cleaniliness drive’ where all the students cleaned the collegecampus diligently under the righteous stewardship of the Principal, Dr. MonikaDua. NSS volunteers and the teachers enthusiastically conducted a tree plantationdrive and planted saplings in and around the college campus, raising theslogans like ‘Clean India, Green India’ Students very ardently participated increative writing and poster making competitions on the topic-‘Innovative waysfor spreading the message of hygiene’. Elocution contest on the theme ‘Healthand hygiene is the real wealth’ & ‘Role of teachers and parents inmaintenance of health in the present scenario’ was also organized to spread theawareness of hygiene among the students. On the auspicious occasion Dr.Kirpal Singh Ji (Agriculture Officer) came as Chief Guest. Sh. .R.B. Khanna Ji(Director Co-ordinator, BCM Management), Sh. M.R.Mehta Ji (Director, BCM SchoolFocal Point), Madam Mehta Ji also graced the occasion with their presence.Cultural items were performed by NSS volunteers such as group dance by Ms.Neera and Ms. Twinkle, classical dance by Ms. Hiti and songs were sung by Ms.Tripti and Ms. Pooja. NSS Wing of B.C.M. College of Education inaugurated the NSS Camp (27th Dec.2016-2nd Jan.2017) with full zeal and fervor to hone the spirit of cooperation, team spirit, dignity of labor amongst the students. The Programme Officer of NSS Wing of the college, Ms. Manjit Kaur, declared the Theme of the NSS Camp (2016-17) -“Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan” which has been aptly chosen keeping in mind the present Scenario after Demonetization. The NSS volunteers Ms. Aditi, Ms. Supreet, Mr. Durga presented a beautiful cultural programme wherein speeches were delivered, songs were sung and folk dance were performed in sync with the spirit of NSS. The Programme Officer also shared the Action Plan of the week long NSS Camp with the audience.
The occasion was graced by many important dignitaries, Sh. R. B. Khannaji, Dr. Vandana Shahi, Mrs. S.K. Mehtaji, Dr. Parveen Grover, Sh. D.P. Gulleria. Speaking on the occasion, esteemed guest, Sh.D.P.Guleria highlighted the importance of organizing NSS camps for fostering skills viz. compassion, empathy in the youth of today.
Dr. Monika Sethi deliberated on Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan by raising the slogan-“Make your mobile your e-wallet, go cashless, be safe!!”

NSS Wing of B.C.M. Collegeof Education celebrated the ‘Constitution Day’ with full zeal and fervor tocommemorate the adoption of the constitution (in 1949) which came into force onJanuary 26, 1950. This day marked the beginning of the new era in the historyof India as it fosters the spirit of patriotism among all the Indians. Thestudents of the college enthusiastically participated in various activities viz.Poster Making Competition, Swacchta Abhiyan and Plantation Drives.
Ms. Satwinder wasdeclared first, Ms. Umangpreet was declared second and Ms. Sapandeep was declaredthird. The Principal, Staff and students planted saplings, maintained thegarden areas of the college exhibiting ‘dignity of labour’ in the real sense.
Putting intopractice “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”, classrooms, verandas, display boards werecleaned by the students. Speaking on this occasion, the Principal of thecollege, Dr. Monika Sethi raised the slogan “There can be no democracy withoutdaily citizenship”

B.C.M College ofEducation, Ludhiana celebrated the achievements and laurels won by the studentsat the Zonal Youth festival. The College bagged 19 first, 6 second and 12 thirdprizes and cumulatively won the overall Trophy at Punjab University YouthFestival for the Fourth time consecutively. The college has also won 7 prizesat the Interzonal level held recently. Shri S.K. Mehta ji, (Secretary) gracedthe occasion and appreciated the efforts of the staff and the students. On thisoccasion, the students of Semester –III made a very comprehensive presentation,giving a glimpse of their experiences during their 3 month long Internshipprogramme. Further, Investiture Ceremony was also conducted wherein the officebearers of the Student Council (session 2016-18) of the College were alsointroduced and honored. The winners of various items at the Zonal andInterzonal Youth Festival entertained the audience and showcased their talentby reciting poems, singing songs and performing theatrical acts etc. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of thecollege, Dr. Monika Sethi, encouraged the students and highlighted the importance of focus, determination and hardwork.

BCM College Celebrated ‘National Unity Day’

NSS Unit of BCM College of Education celebrated National Unity Day on 4 th Nov 2016. It was an endeavour of government to observe National Unity Day along with national unity week from 31 st October 2016 to 6 th November 2016 offering grateful salutes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the pioneer of national unity. Poster making competition on the theme Unity was conducted and Ms. Ravneet Kaur, Ms. Anmol Kaur and Ms. Diksha were judged 1 st , 2 nd & 3 rd respectively. NSS Volunteers also decorated NSS corner spreading the messages of Unity. Students recalled the sayings of Iron Man of India which were, “It is the prime responsibility of every citizen to feel that his country ...is free and to defend its freedom is his duty.” & Manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and... united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power." Every citizen of India must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in this country but with certain duties. Dr. Monika Sethi encouraged the students to keep themselves involving in such activities and follow the path shown by such a great man. Mrs. Manjeet Kaur and Mrs. Shilpa Kaura, NSS Programme Coordinators coordinated all the activities and inspired students to indulge in social activities with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Hindi Department of B. C. M College of Education, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas in the college premises. Shri S. K. Mehtaji, Manager, B.C.M Management Committee graced the occasion to support and encourage the students. The function started with lamp lighting followed by recitation of Sarswati Vandana. Students participated with full fervor reciting Hindi poems, singing hindi songs and delivering speeches in ‘Hindi’. Kavita, a B.Ed student recited beautiful dohas of Kabirji and Raheemji striking the spiritual chord of the audience. The faculty could also not escape the magical touch of ‘Hindi’. Dr. Ravinderjeet Kaur, Vice Principal of the college and Mrs. Suprerna Khanna enthralled the audience with a thought provoking Hindi poems penned by famous Hindi poets. Dr. Monika Sethi, Principal of the college shared her views with the students on ‘Hindi Diwas’ highlighting the importance and historical perspective of the national language. She also congratulated the students and the Teacher incharges, Dr. Sangeeta Arora and Ms. Jasmeet K. Bedi for the success of this programme.

BCM student Ms. Supreet Kaur has bagged gold in M.Ed second semester Punjab University examination (2015-17) by scoring 853 out of 1000 marks. 27 students appeared in M.Ed Examination and all got first division. The college management committee and Principal Monika Sethi congratulated the students on their achievements.

B. C. M College of Education celebrated World Veterinary Day by organising a Seminar on the Topic “One Health”
in collaboration with Punjab State Veterinary Council. Eminent executives of the Department of Animal
Husbandry, Punjab, Dr. Paraminder Kaur, Sr. Veterinary Officer, Dr. Deepak Jangra, Dr. G.P. Singh, Veterinary
Officer, graced the occasion with their presence. Dr. Kawaljeet Singh, Veterinary Officer acquainted the audience
with the various diseases transmissible from animals to humans. He also answered the queries regarding various
deadly diseases viz. rabies put forth by the staff and students of B.C.M. College of Education with utmost
satisfaction. Speaking on the day, the Chief Guest Dr. Paraminder Kaur, Sr. Veterinary Officer stressed on making
joint efforts in future for improving the health and wellbeing of animals as well as human beings. On this
occasion, Dr. Monika Sethi, Principal, B.C.M. College of Education, talked about the need to sensitise the present
generation and make them aware about the fact that animals too are very affectionate and need our care. On
this positive note she raised the slogan, “There is only one way you can shoot the animals and that is with your
camera. She congratulated the coordinators of the Seminar on the successful completion of the programme.

BCM College of education organized a function tomark the world disability day in the college campus in which Mrs. ParamjitKaur, Principal Braille Bhawan, Ludhiana and Dr. Vibhu Narad, Pediatrics Surgeon was the chief guests. Sh. S.KMehtaji, Secretary and Sh. R.B Khanna ji, Director Coordinator was also present onthe occasion. The function started with the lamp lightening ceremony afterwhich Dr. Monika Sethi, Principal of the college presented floral and oralwelcome to the guests of the day. Dr. Vibhu gave a presentation on the topic Disability-itsTypes, causes and how to deal with it. Mrs. Paramjit Kaur in her address saidthat there is a need for moreknowledge and training in educational institutions on the issue of Disability sothat all kinds of students can be supported and included in the mainstreameducation. She also laid stress on to have the positive attitude towards life.A rally was organized on the occasion in which as many as 150 students of thecollege took part. Students showed a great enthusiasm for the rally and raisedthe slogans in order to spread awareness on the issue of Disability. The chiefguest of the day Mrs. Paramjit Kaur and Dr. Vibhu Narad along with Sh. S.KMehtaji, Sh. R.B Khannji flagged off the rally. The rally after passing throughvarious parts of the Sector 32A, Urban Estate culminated at the college campus.

B.C.M College of Education shines in M.Ed Result by bagging Gold Medal

Students of B.C.M College of Education has outshined in the M.Ed (2014-15)
result by bagging top positions in the final examinations conducted by Panjab
University, Chandigarh. 35 M.Ed Students of the college appeared in the final
examination and all of them passed with the first division. 33 students out of 35 are
placed in the university merit list. Rupinder Kaur stood first in the university and
college by scoring 1011marks out of 1200. Prabhjot Kaur secured second position
in the college by securing 990 marks while Simky Shahi secured third position in
the college with 985 marks. Management of the college congratulated the students
for their outstanding performance and motivated them to achieve success in their
future also. They also lauded teachers’ contribution for this huge success.

Students of B.C.M College of Education has onceagain proved their mettle in the Panjab University Zonal Youth Festival ofEducational Colleges held at Dev Samaj College of Education ,Chandigarh fromOctober,9th -11th ,2015.Colleg won 45 Prizes in allincluding the Overall Trophy. It is worth mentioning that it is theconsecutively third time that the college has won Overall Trophy in the PanjabUniversity Zonal level youth festival of educational colleges. This timecollege students have bagged 18 first prizes, 16 second prizes and 10 thirdprizes in the various categories. College management committee and officiatingPrincipal Dr. Monika Sethi congratulated the students as well as facultymembers on this marvelous achievement.
