The Placement Cell

The placement cell of an institution plays a vital role and is the important part of the institution. The competition for employment is increasing everyday along with new frontiers of employment in teaching profession. To provide all possible assistance to our would be teachers BCM college of education has formally established PLACEMENT CELL in the session 2006-07 in the college premises. It acts as a liaison between the interests of the students and the recruiting agencies. The placement cell in short span of time has developed a network with reputed schools of the region. The role of placement cell starts as early as organizing the past records of the students at the time of admissions, helping them to prepare and update their individual profiles by providing the technical guidance, knowledge of different pedagogies, and school related experiences through variety of activities. At BCM we are trying our level best to develop the potential of our students through rigorous practical exposure and interactions. Several workshops and skill development programs are being conducted to hone the teaching skills to suit the requirement of the recruiters. It is well supported by both faculty members as well as students.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Placement Cell include:

  1. To create a database of the probable recruiters
  2. To create and maintain a data-bank on profiles of our present students
  3. To act as liaison unit for plugging the gap between recruiters and fresh professionals to speed up the process of recruitments.
  4. To organize seminar, workshops and skill development programs.
  5. To provide guidance to students to prepare for competitive examinations.
  6. The Placement cell will develop linkages between different schools to organize the campus interviews for the recruitment of the graduates and postgraduate students of the college
  7. Encouraging and helping each student to grow and progress by achieving a clear understanding and acceptance of one's strength, interest, abilities, weaknesses, skills and values.
  8. Helping each student to understand the opportunities open to them and the required input for the goal one sets.
  9. To keep track of the current status of our ex-students and to record and maintain their needs and comments.
  10. Publishing career literature in order to disseminate accurate information of avenues open before them.
  11. Providing information regarding job opportunities and avenues for desirous graduate & PG students.
  12. Acting as a catalyst in reducing unemployment.
  13. To provide guidance to students for skill improvement by organizing the trainings for personality development, communication skill, mock group discussions, mock interview and resume writing etc.
  14. The Placement Cell will give guidance to students for self-employments.

Activities of Placement Cell
  1. The placement cell attempts to keep the students informed about potential job opportunities and guidance from time to time.
  2. Interact with schools and arrange interviews.
  3. Organize Career orientation & guidance Programs
  4. Conduction of Mock interviews in college Campus.
  5. Training in resume writing.
  6. Interactions of students with renowned personalities in the field of teaching profession.
  7. Providing School based experiences through various activities.
  8. Adjustments in the teaching practice schedule of those students who get placement before the completion of B.Ed session.
  9. Display of information related to vacancies in different school.
  10. Conducting preparatory test (Like TEG CELL) related to teaching profession at College Campus.
  11. Arrange off-campus and campus recruitment process with recruiters.
  12. Communicate with employer (schools) furnishing profile of College and particulars of students.
  13. Guiding students to prepare different competitive examination like NET, TET etc. by providing up to date information and preparation tips.
  14. Follow up regarding professional enrichment after placement.
