Literary Club of BCM College of Education celebrated International Mother Language Day on February 21, 2026 to promote linguistic diversity, multilingualism and the protection of threatened mother tongues. The day began with Lamp lighting and Sapling presentation by Principal Dr. Monika Dua. Dr. Ranjit Singh, National Awardee and Headmaster (Retd.) Government High School, Salem Tabri, Ludhiana graced the occasion as Chief Guest of Day. Dr.Anuradha Kumar, Social Development Expert added charm to the event with her gracious presence. Addressing the audience, Dr.
Ranjit Singh ji encouraged the would-be teachers to foster pride in the Punjabi language and promote its use in daily life. Dr. Singh talked about the origin of different punjabi words like glass, gaj, hasti and narrated episodes related to Zafarnama and Mughal emperors. He quoted numerous verses from Gurbani to
highlight the relevance of Punjabi Language. Dr. Anuradha in her address motivated the students to celebrate linguistic diversity and respect their mother tongue Punjabi as it was vital for their identity, education and development. She narrated her real life experience to instill the importance of mother tongue. Enthusiastic BCMites showcased Punjabi culture through songs and poetry thereby
making the event memorable. Ms. Apneet Kaur presented a lucid Power Point Presentation highlighting the beauty of the Gurmukhi script and Punjabi vocabulary.A soul-stirring Nukkad Naatak, eloquently portraying the fading plight of Punjabi amidst the fast-paced tide of technology was staged by B.Ed. students.
